Dunmore East goes mobile

Dunmore East is the first village in Ireland to have a mobile phone application – otherwise called an App. Featuring information on restaurants, pubs, activities and festivals, the App is available free for iPhone and Android phones. An expanded version of the app is also in the works and this will add accommodation, transport and tides.

The app was created by local developer Apptoonz and is being promoted under the SeeDo Ireland brand. Conor O’Nolan of Apptoonz said “This development, done with the assistance of local businesses shows that tourist destinations like Dunmore East can use the newest technologies to promote themselves”.

As part of the launch, local businesses are offering prizes for a competition accessed via the app. David Harris, Chairman of the Dunmore East Business and Tourism Committee welcomed the new initiative. “We’re delighted to see this app being made available. Mobile information is getting even more important for tourism and we look forward to expanding on what Apptoonz has created”.

To get the App for iPhone go to the App Store and search for ‘Dunmore’. For Android phones, go to the Android market and search for ‘Dunmore’.

Apptoonz intend offering mobile apps to tourism businesses throughout Ireland. Further details are available at www.apptoonz.com
