Family friendly camping and mountain adventure. Share in a real base camp experience using expedition quality equipment in a remote and beautiful setting. Wake up to the wild and dramatic landscape of the Comeragh Mountains. Return feeling energized with a real sense of well being.

Day 1

  • Meet ‘n Brief in Waterford (Collect individual packs containing light camping gear and shared food)
  • Trek from trail head to base camp
  • Enjoy a well earned lunch. Nothing like the outdoors to give you an appetite!
  • Get going on a range of activities including (High tech and traditional navigation training, Locate a person using map and compass or GPS, Stream crossing using Gibbon Ribbon, Camp craft activities)
  • 7pm: Fire up the stoves and muck in to prepare supper
  • Chill out over supper and plan the following day’s route to the summit
  • Spend the rest of the evening in typical base camp mode telling tall tales of past adventures (feel free to use your imagination) before hitting the sack!

Day 2

  • Note: the route to the summit is a trek that stays clear of any exposed edges
  • Early wake up call!
  • Learn to survive! (Fetch water, Fire up the stoves, Cook breakfast, Clean up)
  • After a hearty breakfast, set out for the Summit taking in some spectacular views along the way including a 432m sheer cliff face dropping down to Coumshingaun Lake, that’s twice as high as the Cliffs of Moher!
  • At the summit: (Grab a photo opportunity; you are 792m above sea level!, In teams, navigate back to base camp)
  • Back at  base to break camp and hike out to the trail head
