Waterford’s grand old lady of the stage is The Theatre Royal. Its first performance took place in 1810. Beautifully renovated in 2009, it now presents a broad range of drama, comedy and live muscial performances from classical to the very latest contemporary sounds.
The theatre in the Garter Lane Arts Centre Waterford, has the added bonus of being located in a two-building complex that also contains an art gallery and arts centre and is a focal point for many different arts activities.
The Red Kettle Theatre Company is an independent professional theatre company which runs a number of well-lauded productions. It has expanded to theatrical training, and runs the excellent “Little Red Kettle” aimed at children.
Outside the city, Dungarvan boasts a fine traditional venue in its Town Hall Theatre. In addition to dramas and music, it hosts Féile na Déise.
